Farmed salmon

Farmed salmon create several challenges for wild salmon. When fish escape from farms, they can mix with wild salmon and weaken natural populations. Escaped farmed salmon increase competition for both food and spawning grounds. In addition, fish farms can contribute to the increased spread of diseases and parasites.
