Salmon Day in August - for students in Tana and Karasjok

Salmon Day 2025 will be held in Polmak at Tana Museum in late August/early September. The event is aimed at middle school students in Tana and Karasjok municipalities.

The event is carried out in collaboration with Tana and Varanger Museumssiida, Tana River Basin Fisheries Management, Tana Municipality and the primary schools in Karasjok and Tana.

The day is planned in line with the curriculum goals for the middle stage of primary school:

  • Theme 1: Benthic animals and food chains

  • Topic 2: Wild salmon's appearance and spawning grounds

  • Topic 3: Life cycle and survival

  • Theme 4: Traditional River Sámi culture

  • Topic 5: Fence + What happened to the salmon after it was caught.
